Who says the Cronut Fever isn’t over yet? People in America are spending a lot of big bucks just for this. I honestly think its ridiculous that they have “black markets” just for this.
If you’re still reading this and still have no idea what and wondering what “cronuts” are… they’re basically croissant and donut put together. Two very delicious things combined into one perfect combination. To answer your question, “Where do I get them here in Jakarta?” I will tell you three places that offers these unique type of food.
The first place I will introduce will be my my favorite cronut place and its from the Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop!
I love the cronut from this place so much because they give special attention to it and the texture of their cronut is crispy in the outside, soft in the inside and the filling just melts in your mouth. Don’t you love the feeling of all that into one thing. One try and you can get obsessed like me. I feel that this has to be the best place to get cronut in Jakarta. I also think that its relatively cheap because just for one cronut it costs you Rp. 25,000 for the Vanilla one, and its in a hotel. Eventhough you have to wait for 20 minutes for the cronut, its worth the wait as it comes fresh from the oven and is only prepared as you order.
Another place where you can get cronuts is Madame Lily in Plaza Indonesia. Its good and pretty decent. If this is your first time eating them I think this should be really good for you. And if you have a sweet tooth on really sweet taste this should just be the thing for you. You’d love it because its very sweet. My honest opinion about this is, its too sweet for me. But don’t get me wrong, I just don’t like foods that are too sweet.
The third place where you can get them is in Union, Plaza Senayan. However I don’t think its their specialty so its ‘okay’. Its not as good as the one from Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop. I feel that the cronut is rather soggy because its pretty oily. Even so, Union’s red velvet is way better and I think they win just from that.
