Paradise Dynasty

I was invited to Paradise Dynasty to taste their new menu. Honestly, it was spectacular and I was amazed by the colorful Xiao Long Baos. Xiao Long Baos are steamed buns and inside them are chicken meat. They also have soup inside it, pretty impressive right? Although the colors varied I could not tell which one was which. All the colours tasted the same to me. Anyways it was a fun way to eat colorful stuff. The experience felt as if I were eating Chinese macaroons.

Secondly, we also tried the Yang Zhao Meatballs and the Fungus dish with mushrooms and peanuts. The meatballs were texture-y and you can taste the glorious juicy meat. The fungus was also pretty good. The name isn’t that nice to hear but fungus… has the perfect combination and hands down, it was enjoyable.

Thirdly, this has got to be my favourite. Fried Red Bean Pancake and the Deep Fried Prawns. I don’t normally like red bean because its red bean however when its deep fried, its toally different. Its lip smacking and the red bean paste has the perfect combination for my tongue. The prawn on the other hand tasted sweet and soury. I like how its still crispy yet its coated with the sauce.

Next, I had the Shanghai Soup. This was their new menu and honestly, it tasted more like a fusion dish for me. It reminded me of Japanese Ramen broth. Anyways it still had the warm aroma, and the nice feeling when you eat the soup. Worth the try.

Lastly, I ate the steamed buns. It was too cute to be eaten, anyhow I still ate it. Inside was like an egg filling and it tasted pretty tangy, sweet, salty, I don’t know how to describe it but it was the perfect combination. The steamed buns are called Black Widow and Hedgehog bun by the way.

Below is a picture of my friends and I. We sure had a great time visiting Paradise Dynasty and thanks to Groupon Indonesia for inviting us once again!

Food in PIK

Pantai Indah Kapuk or PIK for short is filled with restaurants along the stretch of small buildings. I’ve visited a bunch of places but two of my favorite places there are Bihun Bebek A-eng and Hong Tang.

When you’re around PIK don’t forget to make a few stops at my favorite places..

This is my favorite. You should definitely stop here to eat some “bihun bebek!” Bihun Bebek is a meal consisting of glass noodles and duck. This is so yummy and this won’t disappoint. If you want to order the side dishes you have to try their fish balls and pork belly. Trust me, if you think pork belly is disgusting you might change your mind after eating it here. I was once of that opinion too.

If you have a sweet tooth try Hong Tang. Place is super crowded and it may take you a while to get seats. The service here is also lacking (maybe its because its too crowded and they have a lot of new trainees). Other than that the green tea ice cream with jelly tastes excellent and super sweet! Although some of you may think the place is too overrated because its “mainstream,” honestly I’d say its pretty nice and yummy!

TWG Tea Salon & Boutique

TWG has just opened in Plaza Senayan and this franchise from Singapore is very nice. The place is split into two, the first half they have the tea store and the other half, the dining area. Every time I go there the place is very crowded and packed. You have to put your name down the list and wait for around 5-10 mins. If you’re lucky you can just get it anytime. The tea list there was extensive and I had trouble choosing but I have to say that Emperor Sencha has got to be my favorite. The interior is decorated with golden decorations and tea pots. Its very grand and its like the old Great Gatsby themed look. The food there were appetizing and the Eggs Benedict has got to be the best. I think this place is good to have for brunch and just high tea. The ambience was very welcoming and I was impressed by the design and it feels like going back through time. You should definitely check this place out if you love tea!

Bubur Mangga Besar

This may not be the restaurant you’d expect to see or read from this blog but I have to tell you that this place serves the best ‘bubur’/porridge in town! The place may not be that great or that clean but they serve really good porridge. If you are a big fan of fish or chicken porridge this place is for you. They also serve the porridge with side dishes like cold tofu, “cakwe,” and pickles. This place gets really crowded and I encourage you guys to go here at night because I’m not that sure this place opens during the day time. Parking your car would be rather difficult but if you try there are still “tukang parkir” that will help you find your way out/in.
