Bistronomy

Bistronomy is one of the most unique restaurants in Jakarta I should say. There are not many with a rustique concept for restaurant like this. I think if you want or looking for something different and a place to take pictures this should be the place. For those of you who like to Instagram pictures of restaurants I should say this should be perfect! I am so drawn into the place because the decor especially and the tiny details were just very attractive. Despite the taste of the food was just so-so, the ambience of the restaurant was really chill and it has a nice atmosphere. The interior was very well decorated even at the toilets. The table setting, staff was super friendly.

Ismaya Catering Co

20140228-230127.jpgIsmaya Catering Co offers a wide range of food from different countries: Indonesian, Mexican, American, Italian, you name it! I was fortunate enough to come and taste their new menu on February 26th. The food was amazing and going there was totally worth my time. Getting invited to eat at dinner with other food bloggers was a new experience for me and I had a lot of fun. If you’re thinking I’m just writing a good review for them because they gave me free food you are wrong. It was a superb dinner and it tasted great.

As starters we were served lychee refreshers to soothe our dry throats. Honestly, it tasted sweet and refreshing. Just the way I like it. Moving on to food, we were served Nachos with Beef Chili Con Carne (45k) and Mexican Cheese Quesadilla (48k). The Quesidilas was enjoyable however the Nachos were rather too sweet for me. Even so, the guacamole sauce and everything was blended together and everything in the dish provides unity and tasted amazing.

After that we moved on to try their main course, Nasi Goreng Kecombrang (45k), Soto Tangkar with Jasmine Rice (45k) and Double Trouble Spaghetti (65k). Even though it does not go well altogether, it was nice having different choices of food on the dinner table. You get to experience different food from different countries. The Nasi Goreng tasted wonderful. Eventhough it looks plain the flavor was tangy, nice and it was a unique mix flavors indeed. The Soto Tangkar tasted really nice. Kinda like the Soto Gebrak kuningan which I really like. I will be doing another review on this soon. It was full of flavors and I can taste the spices. And the Spaghetti was ultimately the best. Maybe, I just love pork skin, it was super crunchy and pork and pasta are both good combinations.

20140228-230051.jpgFor deserts we had Molten Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (40k) and Singkong Belanda (32k). The Molten Lava Cake was nice, moist and when you cut it you can see the chocolate bursting out.  The Singkong was fried evenly and you can feel the crisp all through out. The caramel sauce on top also complements it well. Last but not least we also tried more refreshers and I think the watermelon is worth the try. Its super refreshing and even though I was super full I get to take more sips. All in all, thanks again to ISMAYA for inviting me to the dinner experience. It was great and I hope I can review more food from these restaurant branches.

Potato Head

Theres a huge difference between Potato Head and Potato Head Garage in Jakarta. Potato Head has been here for a few years now and Potato Head Garage was just opened a few months ago. Potato Head offers really good food and their place is decorated with wooden and old looking windows. I think this was a really creative concept and its interesting. Potato Head Garage on the other hand, was also something different. The place is like a huge storage place and is decorated with heavy gold chandeliers. The sofa is also covered with white sheets which I think is very creative because this is another unique concept restaurants in Jakarta have to keep up with. Moreover the food are all excellent and I recommend you guys to actually go to either one of these places and try out their food!

Union

Union has opened in Plaza Senayan for several years now and it still hasn’t lost its popularity. The restaurant is always packed with people and to get in you have to wait in a long queue. They also give a maximum reservation time. So basically you can only eat there for about 2 hours. The people there are kinda rushing you but honestly I feel that 2 hours is enough to spend eating and you can be done by that time. The service was okay; well maybe it was because it was too packed when I came and food tasted great. I have to say that my favorite would be the scallop spaghetti. It was good and I also tried out the red velvet. Union is very much known for their red velvet and it would be ashamed if I missed out on it. The texture of the cake is soft and light. Just the way I like it. Ambience of the restaurant is very much loud because its super crowded and I don’t know why but the lights were rather dim. However I liked how they designed the interior because its pretty classy and nothing like most restaurants in Jakarta. Its a very different concept and the ambience is very welcoming.

SKYE #reachfortheskye

SKYE is positioned on the 56th floor and one of the unique restaurants we don’t normally have in Jakarta- rooftop terrace on one of the tallest buildings in Jakarta. I find this concept very interesting because its relatively new and its considered to be one of the coolest hangout places in Jakarta.

After stepping out of the elevator that brought me out I saw huge doors and to the left theres the open terrace and to the right theres the indoor restaurant. The place is decorated with mosaic and there’s the Skye logo – the bright sun. The service was very welcoming because as I got in they welcomed me and I was brought to my seat. I’ve never actually dined here for lunch but I went out for dinner a couple of times. I’ve also had the experience to actually try out the MasterChef Ken Arnone Dinner back in 2012. Anyways back to the restaurant, the food was thrilling. It was presented in a very artistic manner and it was impressive. My favorite would be the pork knuckle and sashimi on top of rice. Other than the food, the view outside was breathtaking. I’ve never actually known Jakarta to be that “nice.” I’ve always thought it was polluted but from the top Jakarta looks really bright and interesting. It gets very windy as well at night and they have really loud music outside. This place was also for drinking and they actually restricted kids below 18 from entry. But I had the opportunity to go in and saw the view. They had a pool and the atmosphere was not smokey because the wind was blowing so it didn’t smell like people smoked as much. OK lets just cut to the chase, because words aren’t that important and let the pictures speak themselves!Image
